With around 60 partner schools, our collaboration means we can offer you both expertise and experience. We offer different phase and subject options as well as learning on a full or part-time basis. Our full-time programme takes one academic year to complete.

Our learning is very interactive and engaging. It is school-based, placing you in school from day one and easing you into teaching at an appropriate pace. You will be fully immersed in school life and take ownership of the classes in two contrasting placements. You will work with outstanding mentors and expert professionals, and our partner schools offer excellent local placements.

We are dedicated to supporting trainees to become the best teachers possible and are proud of the mentoring and support we offer trainees. Our programme is very successful; 98% of trainees secure teaching roles after completion, with a large proportion of our partner schools making offers of employment, including SHARE Multi-Academy Trust schools.

Places on the programme are subject to entry requirements and involve a fee. However, there are funding options and routes available which we are happy to explain to you.

Whether you are a recent graduate, already work in a supporting education role or looking for a career change, our programme will help you start your teaching journey. We look forward to helping you start your teaching career."

Your second placement will provide you with an alternative experience, enabling you to build new networks and gain further experience and confidence.

Your contrasting two placement schools will be assigned to you on the basis of a range of factors including transport, home location and mentor capacity. Our list of schools is constantly expanding. If you would like to train with us and have a particular school in mind, please contact us to see if we can help you. We will support you to select a school right for you.

Fees and Funding

Fees

The current tuition fees set by our accredited provider are £9535.

Fees are payable to our accredited provider in three instalments across the academic year. Part-time costs vary dependent upon whether the programme is completed over three or four days per week. We can advise you of the part-time costs of the programme when discussing your application.

Available Financial Support

You may be eligible for funding and practical support to help you whilst training. The DfE Get Into Teaching website provides further guidance on the student finance and extra funding that may be available to you.

Salaried Placements

Some subjects offer salaried placements. These subjects are determined by the Government and are typically ones which are considered to need to attract more high-calibre professionals to teach them. Some salaried placements, include Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry may be available. These are highly competitive and therefore, early applications are advised where available. The Government attach set criteria to these placements including three years’ work experience. For example, three years’ accountancy work experience would be considered for Mathematics, whilst three years’ pharmacist experience would be considered for Biology. We recommend that you contact us to discuss available salaried placements.

Training with us: A Trainee's Perspective

Sam Jennings: Teacher of History, SHARE Multi-Academy Trust

"My initial teacher training began with Calderdale and Kirklees Teaching School Hub in September 2022 and I achieved my PGCE and QTS in June 2023.

During my training, I completed placements at three secondary schools within SHARE Multi-Academy Trust. My first placement was at Thornhill Community Academy where the Humanities department were very supportive and I was able to develop positive relationships with both staff and students, making my first placement valuable and enjoyable.

In my second placement at Shelley College, I gain valuable experience of planning and teaching A-Level History. This was a fantastic opportunity to develop my love and passion for the subject. I began my third and final placement at Royds Hall where I now work as a qualified teacher. I am continuing to develop my early career and practice, recently joining the Teaching and Learning team, working with lead practitioners to implement learning strategies and give examples of best practice for all staff briefings and CPD. It is a fantastic opportunity to develop my practice.

I am very thankful to Calderdale and Kirklees Teaching School Hub and SHARE Multi-Academy Trust for their support during my initial teacher training and my early teaching career, their network of expertise and willingness to provide the right training opportunities for me."

Bryonny Wrighton: Teacher of English/Induction Tutor, SHARE Multi-Academy Trust

"From my very early days at secondary school, I knew I had a passion for teaching. That passion led me from the classroom to training to become a teacher through the Calderdale and Kirklees Teaching School Hub.

Since completing my training, my career has really progressed and I am now a member of the senior leadership team at Thornhill Community Academy, the school I was placed at to complete my training!

I absolutely loved my training and the ITT team at the Hub were very helpful and supportive. I was able to grow with confidence and purpose. The programme shaped me into the teacher and leader I am today. Being able to give back to the school that gave me so much in my early days is an incredible privilege.

In addition to my leadership role, I am supporting the Hub with facilitating training for early career teachers and providing mentorship to others. Now it is my turn to support the next generation of educators! Seeing them thrive is both inspiring and deeply rewarding, and it all started with the Hub's ITT programme!"
