School administrative support for ECT induction
The Statutory Guidance: Induction for early career teachers, England (from September 2023) sets out the different roles and responsibilities required for ECT induction. Several of the roles assigned to the Head teacher/principal may be delegated to a member of admin or HR staff. These might include:
-
check that the ECT has been awarded QTS;
-
maintain and retain accurate records of employment that will count towards the induction period;
-
retain all relevant documentation/evidence/forms on file for six years.
-
obtain interim assessments, any formal assessment and progress reviews from the ECT’s previous post;
-
notify the appropriate body as soon as absences, within each year of induction, total 30 days or more.
We are here to support anyone in schools who has a query about ECT induction – please encourage staff to contact us if they are carrying out these delegated duties and require assistance.
